On Saturday, March 12th, 2023 at 9:04 am, the Canyon ISD Cosmetology Facebook page made a post in opposition of Texas Senate Bill 1337 filed by Republican Senator Bob Hall of SD2. "Relating to the practice of barbering and cosmetology", the bill seems to add restricts for straightening and waving using reactive chemicals. The bill also removes requirements for arranging, beautifying, cleansing, dressing, straightening, styling, weaving and blow-drying.
This is not the first time that there has been a questionable posting by a Canyon ISD social media channel. Is it acceptable for your tax-payer funded school district to lobby bills on either side of the aisle? Ironically, Senate Bill 175 (Middleton) is being heard on the Senate floor today (3/13/2023). SB175 caption states "Relating to the use by a political subdivision of public funds for lobbying activities" and Senator Hall is a co-author. The bill would eliminate tax-payer funder lobbying by organizations such as TASB (Texas Association of School Boards).
