According to Wikipedia, BrainPOP is a group of educational websites with over 1,000 short animated movies for students in grades K-12 (ages 6 to 17), together with quizzes and related materials, covering various subjects. BrainPop is used in more than 25% of U.S. schools and also offers subscriptions for families and homeschoolers. It is also used in schools in several other countries in the native language. BrainPop is available by subscription, but has some free content. Moby (robot) and Tim (or other characters) are your hosts.
We first caught wind about BrainPOP via social media postings. We watched a Louisiana high school teacher expose Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity (SOGI) ideology in BrainPOP. Jonathan Koeppel of 'Brave Teacher' truly exposed what BrainPOP is all about.
This immediately prompted our team to see if BrainPOP was being utilized at Canyon ISD. We found that the BrainPOP program was being promoted on the Canyon ISD website as a 'Student & Parent Instructional Resource'
Upon further research, we found the BrainPOP video entitled 'Black Lives Matter Protests'. Watch below.

Christopher Paisley, with 'Inside White Fragility', shows a much different perspective about the above BrainPOP video and the BLM movement. Watch below.
To be clear, we are not advocating that everything in Christopher's video is accurate. In fact, we didn't even check. Our point is that there are two vastly different perspectives about the political group BLM and the loss of lives mentioned. BrainPOP is clearly communicating one side of a coin and not even mentioning other perspectives. This is indoctrinating school children to a single perspective about numerous highly politically charged events that recently occurred in the United States.
We must note that data shows that BLM is a Marxist political hate group that is focused on the destruction of the nuclear family and uses violence to promote their ideology. Again, our point with this article is simply to point out that only one perspective about the group is being dispersed.

LGBTQ Indoctrination
Here is an example of a government school teacher using the BrainPOP Harvey Milk lesson to educate students about a gay rights activist in the 1970s. Again, we see BrainPOP indoctrinating students with LGBTQ ideology. Below is the full video.
According to Wikipedia and Milk biographer Randy Shilts, Harvey Milk started a romantic relationship with Jack Galen McKinley. Their relationship first began in late 1964 when McKinley was 16 years old, prone to depression and suicidal. A sodomy law is a law that defines certain sexual acts as crimes. Sexual intercourse by an adult with a person below a statutorily designated age is statutory rape. BrainPOP is idolizing an adult who had a sexual relationship with a suicidal minor all while honoring LGBT Pride month. This is bone-chilling indoctrination on numerous levels.
Below is the full video of the gender neutral 'Personal Pronouns' exposed by Koeppel (mentioned above). This is pushing SOGI (sexual orientation and gender identity) on children as well as asking a child to believe the lie that gender is fluid. This is indoctrination of the LGBT world view that you can be any gender you choose.

Communist Propaganda
The above BrainPOP video idolizes the Latin American communist revolutionary, Che Guevara. The cartoon host, Tim, even has a t-shirt with a picture of Che on the front. This video explains how "communism as an economic system where, ideally, wealth is distributed evenly to everybody" and "is sort of the opposite of capitalism where everyone competes to make money". There is not a single example in the world's history where communism hasn't resulted in tyranny and murder. Can you name a communist country that has a vital economy where the people are thriving? Communism is not a good option, yet BrainPOP seems to have forgotten to include some of these facts. It leaves the viewer with the thought that communism is just another viable option.

The video goes on to describe Che as a hero for the poor and how he was an ally and supporter of the Cuban communist dictator, Fidel Castro. The video eludes to how the US is working against Che and all that he is fighting for. Che was critical in overthrowing Batista and making Cuba a communist nation. He was Castro's right hand man and instrumental in the blood-thirsty torture and slaughter of any opposition to the communist regime. Guevara also created a system that put gay people into labor camps.

Other concerns are the promotion of Che as a young boy reading amazing literature such as works from the Chilean communist, Pablo Neruda, and the creator of Marxism, Karl Marx. Che also opposed a free press, made extreme racist statements, and had a messiah complex.
Making Che Guevara out to be any type of a hero is similar to propping up Stalin, Putin, Kim Jong-un or Hitler. This video is glossing over humanitarian travesties, recognizing communism as an equitable alternative and leaving out facts. Even Hitler initially had good intentions, said someone at some point in history. It doesn't change the fact that he was a butcher. This indoctrination is dishonest and un-American on so many levels.

Religious Indoctrination
BrainPOP teaches about Wicca and their members who identify as witches, among other religions.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Indoctrination
BrainPOP is also on the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) train and utilize the CASEL framework.
It's worth noting that CASEL is the creator of the '7 Mindsets' SEL curriculum utilized by Canyon ISD as well as the 'Second Step' curriculum selected by Amarillo ISD. We view both as harmful to children.
Under the SEL umbrella, BrainPOP covers basic ethics. According to the transcript of the ethics video lesson, Tim, your BrainPOP cartoon host, tells the viewers "there is no formula for acting ethically".

Really? This is extremely concerning. Whether you are a strong Christian or an atheist, there are basic moral codes we live by on the planet earth. One of them being that cheating is wrong and being honest is good. We instantly thought of several popular short sayings:
The truth shall set you free
Honesty is always the best policy
Never tell a lie
Cheaters never win
How does CASEL and BrainPOP view right and wrong? Is ethical behavior a feeling? Is ethical behavior something you 'best guess' in the moment? Are public schools to trust CASEL's SEL and BrainPOP to guide our children?
Per the 7 Mindset's website, CASEL's SEL (social emotional learning) curriculum, named 7 Mindsets, is based on Buddhist principals. The above video is categorized under SEL on the BrainPOP website and pushes the meditative narrative as well.
Critics of SEL are rapidly growing as parents uncover the rooted intentions. Many describe the curriculum to be a replacement for God and a move towards meditative religions. Others also believe that SEL moves children away from relying on their own family values, and, instead, to always focus on how the other person feels first and to always be inclusive and tolerant, even if it goes against a child's family values and beliefs. Thus, one can see how it is perceived as potential sexual grooming.
The overall intention of the program is controversial in itself. SEL's goal is to educate the 'whole child'. The government now views their role as not just academic, but body, mind and spirit even stating these are more important than academics. Your child's social awareness, emotional well-being and mental health all fall under SEL. Conclusion
BrainPOP indoctrinates children about Black Lives Matter, LGBT Pride Month, a LGBT pedophile, gender neutral personal pronouns, a communist dictator, religions involving witches, distortion of ethical behavior, and meditation, to name a few. There is more indoctrination in BrainPOP, but we thought this was enough to make our point. BrainPOP contains harmful ideology and is indoctrinating children with numerous world views.
Government schools can no longer be trusted to protect your children. Opt out of all programs, curriculum, and instructional online resources/tools not thoroughly vetted (see our ACT NOW page and Children's Bill Of Rights).
We must protect children at ALL costs. They are worth it.
